From Cowshed to Award-Winning Coffee & Gift Store

Our Story

Moher Cottage began with a simple idea: bring back the kind of shop that once served visitors on their way to St. Brigid’s Well and the Cliffs of Moher.

In 2016, we set about converting the old farm cottage beside our family home. This wasn’t just any building—it was where Kevin’s family milked their cows and fed their pigs for generations. The walls held over 160 years of family history, and we wanted to honour that while creating something new.

By spring 2017, Moher Cottage opened its doors.

We’re Caitriona and Kevin Considine, and this farm has been in our family for generations. The land, the views across Liscannor Bay, the connection to this place—it’s all part of who we are. When we transformed the old cowshed, we weren’t trying to create a tourist attraction. We were creating the kind of place we’d want to visit ourselves: authentic, welcoming, and rooted in the landscape and community around us.

Today, we’re proud to be an award-winning coffee and gift store with a view beside the Cliffs of Moher. Our coffee has been voted Best in Ireland, and in 2025 we were named Family Business of the Year. But these recognitions simply confirm what our visitors tell us every day—that there’s something special about this place.

The building may be over 160 years old, but we’re very much focused on the future. We’re constantly improving, constantly thinking about how to serve visitors better while staying true to what makes this place special. We’ve added The Half Door for summer açai bowls , toasties and smoothies. We offer tours that explore the heritage of this land, including the Cornelius O’Brien monument right here on our farm. We’re developing new products and experiences while staying rooted in authenticity.

Our big dream? To be the best little shop in Ireland. It’s ambitious for a small family business, but we’re on that journey, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

Who We Are

A Little History of Moher Cottage

Who We Are

We’re Caitriona and Kevin Considine, and this is our family farm. The building is over 160 years old, the views are the same ones generations of our family have looked out on, and the welcome is the kind you’d get if you knocked on our front door.

Kevin is the chief fudge maker—the one working behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Caitriona is usually the one you’ll meet when you visit, along with our wonderful team: Marie, Trish, Sarah, with our always smiling summer crew too. Together, we create the warm, genuine atmosphere that visitors tell us they remember long after they leave.

This isn’t a concept or a brand exercise. It’s our place, our family’s land, and we’re genuinely happy you’re here.

Moher Fudge

Our artisan fudge is made right here on the premises by Kevin, using traditional methods and quality ingredients. Rich, smooth, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, it’s become something of a tradition for visitors—the perfect treat to enjoy with your coffee or take home as an authentic taste of your visit.

Available in our shop and online, our fudge is one of the things people tell us they remember most about Moher Cottage. Some say they buy extra to bring home, but it rarely makes it that far 🙂
